The first International Women’s Day was celebrated in the year 1911 in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland.

International Women’s Day got formal recognition in 1975, when the United Nations started celebrating it.

Why is International women’s Day celebrated on March 8?
International Women’s Day is celebrated all over the world on 8 March.
However, when American women’s rights activist Clara Zetkin proposed to celebrate International Women’s Day, there was no single date in her mind.
